The Junction City Geary County Military Affairs Council

The Junction City-Geary County Military Affairs Council (MAC) believes that Soldiers and their families add a unique weave to the fabric of community life. A Soldier's motivation and dedication to service extends into the civilian community, as well as strengthens and improves the quality of life in Junction City and Geary County

Our residents recognize how important Fort Riley is to the area and that the military contributions go far beyond the economic benefits. Fort Riley 's history and diversity provide the foundation on which we are building a solid future. With close cooperation, we form a strong community.

The MAC office serves as a liaison in matters relating to the military in Junction City and Geary County . We offer events that build rapport with military commanders and facilitate business development between the military and local companies. The MAC provides helpful day-to-day information, from lobbying for legislative support on issues that affect our military, to offering assistance in the transition of military and federal employees in finding homes, jobs and more.

The Military Affairs Council is made up of ten members who represent various community organizations and governments. The council has a full time director and an administrative assistant.

The current council members are:

Mike Rhodes , Junction City Mayor
R. Ben Bennett, Geary County Commission
Mark Edwards, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army
Tom Gleason, Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce
Mike Guinn, JC-Geary County Economic Development Board
Scott Stuckey, Old Trooper's Regiment, Inc.
LaQuita Steggeman, Lady Troopers
John Musser, Association of the United States Army
Rod Pratt, Geary County Convention & Visitors' Bureau Board

Debra Bengston , Geary County U.S.D. 475 School Board

The MAC office hosts monthly breakfast meetings where members of the community can inform Fort Riley representatives about events and issues. Attendees also have an opportunity to discuss issues and solutions during round table discussions.

The Military Affairs Council is the link between the Junction City and Geary County communities and the Soldiers stationed at Fort Riley. Cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Army Community Services at the Welcome Center at 800 N. Washington St. is just one way we provide support to the military families looking to call Junction City home.

For more information about the Military Affairs Council, or any of our events, please call 238-1270 email or stop by our office at 814 N. Washington Street in Junction City.
